PermitsDIRECT!: A Model of Innovation
Among the notable initiatives recognized is PermitsDIRECT!, a collaborative effort between the City of Irvine and Symbium. This web-based platform enables licensed contractors to obtain instant permits for eligible residential and commercial projects, such as rooftop solar installations, energy storage systems, commercial HVAC changeouts, electrical panel upgrades, residential water heaters and more, without the need for in-person visits to City Hall. By automatically verifying code compliance and contractor credentials, PermitsDIRECT! streamlines the permitting process, significantly reducing approval times and supporting Irvine’s sustainability goals.
